Keith Douglas Blakemore

Keith Douglas Blakemore, Sr. a beloved father, son, brother and uncle was born on November 21, 1963 to Claudia (Travis) and Rodney Blakemore in Pontiac, Michigan. He lived his life with an unapologetic approach underscored with integrity, strength and a unique blend of generosity. With honesty and conviction, he believed in speaking his mind and standing firmly in his beliefs. Keith was always reliable and consistently showed up for those he loved and needed help. At an early age, Keith had a natural curiosity and passion for understanding how things worked. He constantly built or re-engineered things already built so much he was also known as “Edi-Keith”, the next Thomas Edison. After graduation from Pontiac Central in 1981, Keith entered the US Air Force, where most of his time was spent working on jets to ensure aviation compliance. Following this stint, he moved to Houston, TX and enrolled at San Jacinto College and received his associate’s degree in automotive repair. Keith worked as an automotive technician for Ford Motor Company for several years and then decided to start his own business, KB Car Care, which is where he dedicated a lot of his time and energy for nearly two decades. Keith found joy in music, thought provoking conversation, and laughter. Careful in how he chose his friends, he cherished early, early morning conversations with those close to him. Above all, Keith was a devoted and loving father. He valued family deeply and took pride in the legacy he was building through his children. He and Patrina raised their children with care, independence, and respect; encouraging them to trust themselves and face life with confidence. His steady sense of dependability will remain a lasting source of comfort and strength for his family. Keith is survived by his mother, Claudia Blakemore, children (Jasmine, Breona, Keith Jr., and Jeffrey Simmons), his brothers Lance Blakemore (Val), Damon Blakemore Sr. (Funmi), and Billy Lightfoot (Mary) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Rodney Blakemore. Though his time with us feels far too brief, his life was one of purpose, and his legacy will endure in the hearts of those who loved him forever.
