Ado Bamberg Jr.

Ado Bamberg, Jr. was born on Friday, July 18, 1969, to the late Flossie Geiger Bamberg and Ado Bamberg, Sr. in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Ado was the youngest of six children. Ado attended school in the Orangeburg School District and graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School in June 1987. As a young boy, Ado worked hard to be independent, working various jobs, learning work ethics and the pride of making his own money. Many in his family called him “Junior.” He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Christmas morning at the age of 54. After graduating from high school, Ado made early entry into the United States Army Reserves at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and served for 4 months. In 1988, he enlisted in the United States Army and served for 4 years in the United States, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq earning several medals, badges, and citations including the Army Achievement Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, and the Kuwait Service Medal. Ado was Honorably Discharged from the US Army as a Sergeant at Fort Hood, Texas, in August 1992. In June 1996, Ado completed his obligation and received an Honorable Discharge from the U. S. Army Reserve. Following his military service, Ado completed coursework at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas and obtained a Bachelors of Business Administration with a Major in Accounting in August of 2002. He would later work for the Internal Revenue Service and The State of Texas. He was interested in real estate investing and private equity. Ado’s most fulfilling job was as father to Ava Ayanna Bamberg and Leo Mandela Bamberg and husband to Esi, whom he married in 2016. Ado poured his time and endless energy into this family ensuring they had the opportunity to thrive and learn in a loving Afrocentric environment. He was the homeschool superintendent, constantly reading and researching ways to help his children excel. Ado actively practiced his Christian faith, living out the scriptures, leading family worship, and attending church. He was passionate about financial education, the future of black boys and men, and homeschooling his children. His actions were varied and many, but his presence will be missed most of all. He made it a priority to maintain contact with family, friends and colleagues. Ado was preceded in death by his parents Ado Bamberg Sr and Flossie Geiger Bamberg; grandparents Julius and Anniebelle Geiger; sisters Beverly Ann Robinson and Cassandra (Riley) Snider. Ado leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Esi M. Rhett-Bamberg, MD; daughter, Ava; son, Leo. He also leaves his sisters Diane Bell of Columbia South Carolina and Catherine E. Bamberg of Orangeburg, South Carolina; his brother Franklin Bruce Riley of Cordova, South Carolina; mother-in-law and father-in-law Gloria and Anthony Lee of Framingham, Massachusetts; sister-in-law Amandi J. Rhett of Houston, Texas and a host of loving nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins and Esi’s extended family in the country of Barbados, West Indies.
